In May 2023, the Sui blockchain officially launched its mainnet, and within 24 hours of its launch, the first Sui NFT collection, Fuddies, was also launched on the Cluthcy NFT marketplace. While the Fuddies launch did experience multiple issues, by the end of 2023, more than 1,300 collections launched on the Sui blockchain. Today, that number has reached more than 76,000.
In the last two and a half years, Sui has emerged as one of the fastest-growing blockchains for NFTs. As of February 2025, more than 52 million NFTs had been minted on the Sui blockchain, and that number looks to only increase over time.
This comprehensive review explores the unique characteristics, advantages, and ecosystem of Sui NFTs, exploring their technical architecture, ecosystem growth, top marketplaces, top collections, and important information for developers.
At the core of Sui’s revolutionary approach to NFTs is its object-centric architecture. Unlike traditional blockchain platforms, where assets are merely entries in a smart contract’s ledger, Sui treats everything as distinct objects with clear ownership and attributes. This fundamental difference has several important implications:
This means that all Sui NFTs are dynamic NFTs, meaning they can change over time because developers can add extra features (called ‘fields’) to objects. This makes Sui NFTs an excellent option for GameFi and DeFi applications and high-end art.
Specifically, these fields provide key information to users when they view a Sui NFT, including the NFT’s creator and the name, description, and any essential links associated with the NFT.
Sui NFTs also facilitate easy off-chain data storage, as each NFT’s image URL field permits developers to store NFT image data on the Sui network or on another server. This can make things easier for NFTs that utilize large files, including video files or extremely high-resolution photographs.

According to data from SuiVision, the Sui NFT market has exploded in popularity in recent years:
As of February 2025, the top Sui NFT marketplaces included:
TradePort is one of the leading multi-chain NFT marketplaces, supporting Sui, Stacks, and NEAR. It offers advanced analytics, real-time price tracking, and portfolio management tools for traders. TradePort enables users to trade across multiple networks seamlessly. In addition, its gasless listing feature helps minimize costs, making it attractive for high-volume traders.
Sui Gallery was one of the first NFT marketplaces to launch on the Sui blockchain and currently boasts more than 30,000 users. This creator-friendly platform offers zero listing fees, an intuitive UI, and an NFT minting tool that simplifies collection launches. Many early blue-chip Sui NFT projects were first introduced here, solidifying its place in the ecosystem.
Clutchy is the go-to NFT marketplace for Web3 gaming assets on Sui, providing an NFT launchpad, gaming collectibles, and in-game item trading. As gaming NFTs grow, Clutchy has partnered with multiple Sui-based GameFi projects. According to recent reports, Sui-based gaming NFTs saw a 200% increase in trading volume in Q4 2024, partially driven by Clutchy’s ecosystem growth.
KeepSake specializes in NFT-powered gaming and digital collectibles, allowing users to trade in-game items, avatars, and metaverse assets. Its royalty enforcement system ensures fair revenue distribution for creators, making it one of the most creator-friendly marketplaces. In addition, KeepSake has a popular membership rewards program and offers additional functionality for NFT-powered physical collectibles.
BlueMove is a community-driven NFT marketplace known for 0% listing fees, user incentives, and governance rewards. BlueMove was initially an Aptos-only NFT marketplace, but it later also became a popular marketplace for Sui NFTs. While up-to-date info is difficult to find, the BlueMove homepage reports that, as of year-end 2023, the platform had 100,000+ NFTs, 10,000+ collections, and $20 million+ in trading volume, making it one of the largest NFT communities on Sui and Aptos. Unlike many marketplaces, BlueMove utilizes its’ native BlueMove (MOVE) token for rewards and other purposes.
Sui has invented a tool (technically an object) called a Kisok, which can act as an escrow service for digital assets, including Sui NFTs. You can use the Kiosk to set various rules for your NFTs, such as putting an NFT up for auction and selling it if a buyer meets a specific asking price. NFTs stored in a Kisok can also be utilized by other applications, like DeFi dApps, even while owned by the Kiosk.
“At its core, a Kiosk is an object owned by an individual wishing to trade an asset, such as an NFT, serving as a location for storing digital assets to be sold securely on the Sui network.
The individual selling the asset retains administrative control over the Kiosk and the objects within it.
Digital assets stored within a Kiosk, while technically owned by the Kiosk object, can continue to be used in certain interactions, such as being deposited in specific DeFi apps, until the object is purchased from the Kiosk.”
The Sui Kiosk can also be utilized for NFT royalties. Once these royalties are set by the creator, they cannot be changed by anyone except the creator, meaning that marketplaces can’t interfere with NFT royalty payments.
As of February 2025, some of the top Sui NFT collections included:
The Prime Machin collection leverages Sui’s dynamic NFT capabilities in an attempt to deliver a truly innovative experience in digital art. This collection allows holders to spend KOTO to transform their black and white pieces into color, a one-way process that underscores the uniqueness and permanence of each NFT.
According to the project’s official website, as the first PFP collection on Sui to store hand-drawn raster art on-chain at 4K resolution, Prime Machin takes full advantage of Sui’s object-centric architecture, ensuring that its images are preserved on-chain at a cost that’s 100x cheaper than Solana and 1,000x cheaper than Bitcoin Ordinals.
The collection was created by Studio Mirai, which calls itself a provider of “exclusive digital art” and wants Prime Manchin NFT owners to become “part of one of the most vibrant and active communities in Web3 by helping to “shape the evolving narrative of Nozomi.”
The Fuddies NFT collection has become one of the most recognizable brands on the Sui blockchain, known for its unique digital art and strong community engagement. According to the official Fuddie’s website, the collection of 10,000 unique NFTs has attracted notable investors, including Big Brain, who sees Fuddies as a long-term opportunity due to its blend of innovative technology and creative founders, and Koz, a crypto trader actively searching for the owner of the 1/1 Pepe NFT within the collection.
The collection has achieved a total trading volume of approximately 3.66 million SUI, making it one of the most actively traded NFT collections on Sui. In addition, the current floor price for a Fuddies NFT is around 35.5 SUI, reflecting strong demand in the marketplace.
DeSui Labs is another highly popular Sui NFT collection, which later morphed into its own mini-marketplace with multiple NFT collections. According to the official website, DeSui Labs has “built the first and best creative betting community on Sui, with numbers to show for it.”
According to its self-reported data, DeSuiLabs has reached some solid milestones, surpassing $20 million in trading volume, supported by over 100,000 unique wallets and 18,000 community members. These figures highlight the project’s steady growth and active participation from its user base, though its gambling-based model may be unsustainable.
SuiFrens consists of three separate collections: Capy, Bullshark, and Narwhal. This group of NFT collections has become some of the most popular and iconic collections on the Sui blockchain.
“The characters of Capy, Bullshark, and Narwhal tell the story of key parts of Sui’s architecture and infinite scalability. As a collectible, SuiFrens can be extended to operate in a number of ways within other Sui apps and services. SuiFrens are the building blocks of Sui and are here to help tell the story of what you build, too.”
Unlike most collections with a limited amount of NFTs, SuiFrens allows anyone to mint new NFTs at any time– which is why there are currently more than 383,000 SuiFrens: Bullsharks NFTs and more than 193,000 SuiFrens: Capys NFTs.
DSL Legacy is considered one of the most exclusive Sui NFT collections, often reported to be the first digital collectibles on the Sui blockchain. Depending on where you look, DSL Legacy NFTs are also some of the most expensive Sui NFTs, with floor prices as high as 5,000 SUI on the BlueMove marketplace.
As we touched on earlier, Sui NFTs have a variety of technical advantages
Unlike static NFTs on traditional platforms, Sui NFTs can evolve and change over time:
Sui’s architecture enables unprecedented levels of NFT composability:
While the number of NFT-enabled blockchains, and hence, the number of standards, has exploded over the last few years, NFTs didn’t really catch on until the launch of Ethereum’s ERC-721 NFT standard in 2017. Since then, the vast majority of NFTs, including blockbuster collections like Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and CryptoPunks, have utilized the ERC-721 standard.

Despite its popularity, the ERC-721 standard can be limiting for both developers and users, as it is static and generally does not allow for changes, updates, or flexibility after an NFT has been minted. In contrast, Sui NFTs are significantly more flexible.
In the chart below, we look at some of the differences between Sui NFTs and traditional NFTs, such as Ethereum NFTs.
Feature | Sui NFTs | Traditional NFTs |
Architecture | Object-centric | Contract-based |
Ownership Model | Direct object ownership | Contract-managed ownership |
Flexibility | Highly dynamic | Generally static |
Composability | Native support | Limited |
Unlike static ERC-721 NFTs, Sui NFTs are built to be dynamic from the start via their Dynamic Fields feature. This makes them somewhat more similar to Ethereum’s newer ERC-1155 NFTs than traditional ERC-721 NFTs. Specifically, the Dynamic Fields feature allows the NFT to change its behavior and characteristics based on external events and data inputs.

For example, a Sui GameFi NFT representing a character could change its appearance (or other key characteristics) after the player has reached a new level or purchased new gear. In addition, the Dynamic Fields function allows an NFT creator to make the NFT self-destruct under certain circumstances, which could have some artistic value (imagine Banksy’s famous $1.4 million self-destructing painting).
The Dynamic Fields feature also provides Sui NFTs with significant real-world functionality. For example, an NFT event ticket using the Sui NFT standard could change appearance after a user has entered the event, meaning that others cannot reuse or resell it. This functionality may also be useful for other NFTs focused on real-world utility, such as NFT-based blockchain IDs, which could expire after a certain date or be revoked under certain circumstances.
While Sui’s NFT standard is significantly more dynamic than Ethereum’s ERC-721, it may not be quite as dynamic as the ERC-1155 or ERC-6551 standard, the latter of which can even own its own assets, acting as a hybrid NFT/crypto wallet. Despite the advances of these standards, the Sui team is hard at work adding additional functionality and dynamism to Sui NFTs, particularly for GameFi NFTs.
Sui calls their newly upgraded NFTs “mutable NFTs,” which allow for significant modification by developers. Sui says these NFTs offer “unparalleled scalability and instant settlement,” meaning that “changes, asset status, balance, and ownerships can happen instantly live along with gameplay.” This significantly reduces lag and wait time, which has been a significant issue with many NFT-based blockchain games, particularly those running on slower chains, such as the Ethereum mainnet, and even some games on Ethereum Layer-2s, which, while much faster, can still sometimes be impacted by Ethereum’s core scalability issues.

Sui Monstar is a pet simulation game that allows users to play with, feed, and dress up dog and cat “Monstar” NFTs with NFT accessories, evolve their pets with special runes, decorate their NFT farm, and level up their pet and farm NFTs through gameplay and various interactions. Specifically, users can level up their pet NFTs with attributes including friendliness and health, which are all updated live.
