The 11th Supra Community Call was one of the most technical and forward-looking sessions to date. CEO Josh Tobkin, CBO Jon Jones, and host James Preston dove deep into Supra’s evolving DeFi strategy, the iAssets rollout, the emergence of Auto-Balancer, and why Supra’s vertically integrated stack is beginning to influence the rest of the industry.
This call made one thing clear: Supra isn’t chasing narratives; it’s building the narrative others are now following.
Aptos, Espresso, and the Shift Back to Vertical Integration
Jon opened by highlighting something the broader crypto world is beginning to notice: leading ecosystems are adopting ideas that Supra pioneered months or even years ago.
- Espresso Systems (Stanford-affiliated) is now using Hydrangea, a consensus design developed originally by Supra.
- Aptos’s newest consensus research cites Moonshot, Supra’s deterministic, parallelizable consensus technique.
- Multiple chains are exploring automation, native oracles, and zero-block-delay execution, ideas that Supra built its architecture around from the start.
This shift signals a reversal of 2022–2023’s “modular everything” trend. The industry is rediscovering what Supra has been saying all along: vertical integration unlocks capabilities that modular designs can’t match.
Supra’s stack: a high-throughput L1, oracles, VRF, cross-chain messaging, and automation, is now the template many teams are trying to emulate.
The Supra EVM Speed Challenge
Josh reiterated Supra’s confidence in its parallel EVM execution engine, powered by Supra’s Block Transactional Memory (BTM) algorithm. A public bounty is live:
- $35,000 reward if someone can produce a faster EVM executor using 100,000 real Ethereum blocks.
- $10,000 reward for any fully comprehensive report, even if it doesn’t beat Supra.
Josh repeated the team’s belief that no competitor can match the engine’s throughput, and they’re willing to put funds on the line to prove it. This will soon run on a dedicated Microchain, giving developers a Web2-level EVM experience with ~10–25ms blocks.*
*As of the publication of this article, the EVM Speed Challenge is closed, without any winners.
iAssets: Unlocking Multi-Chain Liquidity With Triple Yield
The centerpiece of Call #11 was the first full walkthrough of iAssets, one of Supra’s most ambitious DeFi systems to date.
Josh described iAssets as “DeFi at its finest,” a transparent, non-Ponzinomic way to make capital productive across chains.
How iAssets Work
When users bridge assets (ETH, USDC, etc.) into Supra:
1. Asset Staking → Block Rewards
Native assets brought to Supra can help secure the network.
Users keep full ownership of their principal and earn ~8% block rewards in SUPRA.
2. iAssets in Supra DeFi → Additional Yield
The iAsset minted on Supra can be deposited into lending markets, DEXs, and money markets, generating 5–12% projected APY, depending on the protocol.
3. Cross-Chain Automated Strategies → External Yield
Supra’s automation can deploy the original assets (ETH/USDC) into curated DeFi strategies on their home chains (Morpho, Aave, etc.).
Users receive LP-style receipts while Supra handles:
- Cross-chain messaging
- Price feeds
- Automated rebalancing
- Strategy selection
This system relies entirely on Supra’s integrated tech stack: native automation, oracles, cross-chain execution, and AI-curated strategies.
The long-term vision:
Deposit once → earn yields across multiple chains → managed automatically and transparently by Supra.
This is the core of Supra’s DeFi narrative moving forward.
Auto-Balancer: How Supra Creates “Good MEV”
One of the most anticipated reveals was Auto-Balancer, Supra’s system for native:
- Auto-arbitrage
- Auto-liquidations
- Auto-rebalancing
Josh called it:
“Flashbots built directly into Supra’s L1, but only the good parts.”
Why This Matters
On most chains:
- Private actors capture MEV.
- Value leaks out of the ecosystem.
- Users get worse execution and wider spreads.
With Supra:
- Automation is built into block production.
- The protocol itself handles arbitrage and liquidations.
- All captured value can be redistributed back into the Supra economy through:
- staking rewards
- validator incentives
- treasury accumulation
- token buybacks
Jon explained this clearly:
“Supra converts what used to be private MEV profits into public network revenue.”
Auto-Balancer is already being deployed and should generate the first on-chain dollars of revenue immediately once activated, a symbolic milestone Josh plans to “print on his wall.”
The Supra Flywheel: How iAssets + Automation + Cross-Chain Creates Value
Josh outlined the broader economic model Supra is building. The flywheel works like this:
- Users bridge assets to Supra → iAssets minted
- iAssets create more TVL & liquidity
- More liquidity → more on-chain activity
- On-chain activity → more Auto-Balancer revenue
- Revenue → token buybacks & incentive pools
- Higher FDV → larger iAsset capacity
- → loop repeats, scaling Supra’s entire economy
Supra plans to cap iAsset collateral at roughly one-third of the network’s economic security, a safeguard that ties long-term growth directly to Supra’s market cap.
SupraLiquid: An Ultra-Fast Perp DEX
Community members also asked about SupraLiquid, the Hyperliquid-style perpetual futures DEX built on Supra. Key points include:
- Built with Microchain (Container) architecture
- 10–25ms block times
- Capable of 40–50 blocks per blink
- Designed for orderbook speed, deep liquidity, and Oracle-secure execution
- User-acquisition campaigns are already being prepared (but kept secret to avoid copycats)
Interfaces and videos are coming soon, but Supra’s team is withholding previews until they’re polished and ready. In the meantime, Dexlyn’s Perp DEX is already live using Supra’s price feeds.
Cross-Chain Automation Beyond Supra
Interestingly, AutoFi doesn’t require SupraNova exclusively. Josh noted that AutoFi can work over any bridge as long as the cryptographic proofs verify.
This means:
- Supra’s automation layer can extend to multiple ecosystems
- Supra can coordinate assets across chains more efficiently than centralized exchanges
- The network could become a cross-chain execution hub for DeFi strategies everywhere
Community Feedback: Marketing, Momentum, and Transparency
Both Josh and Jon emphasized that the team has heard the community loud and clear:
- Improve marketing execution
- Announce products only when ready
- Strengthen BD to support ecosystem growth
- Focus the narrative: Supra is the best chain for DeFi
- Keep sentiment grounded but optimistic
Supra has been shipping aggressively, L1, oracle, VRF, automation, cross-chain messaging, but future updates will be revealed more strategically.
As Jon put it:
“We’re not giving up. We’ve built thick skin. We’re pushing forward, nonstop.”
What’s Next for Supra
Based on the call, here’s what’s coming soon:
- iAssets: heading into full activation
- Auto-Balancer: first stages going live (dashboard following shortly)
- Supra EVM testnet
- SupraLiquid sneak peeks & rollout
- Threshold AI Oracle deployments across multiple chains
- Cross-chain DEX (DFMM)
- Cross-chain lending
- Prediction markets powered by Threshold AI Oracles
Supra is now entering the phase where its seven-year infrastructure build begins to turn into a revenue-generating DeFi economy.
