On the Jul. 10th episode of The SUP, James and Chase were joined by none other than Mr. Square, core contributor at Solido, one of the most ambitious projects building on Supra. The conversation ranged from new yield opportunities and community campaigns to the long-term vision for AutoFi, Supra’s automated DeFi infrastructure. And, of course, plenty of laughs, banter, and hot-seat questions along the way.
What is Solido?
Mr. Square wasted no time reintroducing Solido to the community, emphasizing the protocol’s three main functions:
- Liquid staking (coming soon with Solido Flow)
- Stablecoin borrowing (Solido Cash)
- Tokenized yield (Solido Grow)
Two of these products are already live and thriving, while the third is set to expand Supra’s staking economy in a big way. In Mr. Square’s words:
“We are building the core infrastructure required for Supra’s AutoFi to kick on.”
That means Solido isn’t just another DeFi app; it’s laying the rails for the next generation of automated finance on Supra.
The Rise of AutoFi
Much of the conversation centered on AutoFi, Supra’s vision for self-operating finance. Instead of users manually rebalancing, topping up loans, or hunting for yield across protocols, AutoFi automates the process, reducing complexity and preventing costly mistakes.
For example, Mr. Square explained how AutoFi intelligently manages deposits:
- Idle funds can be deployed into SupraLend or DEX liquidity.
- Cash minted through Solido can be automatically staked into Solido Grow.
- Strategies are optimized in the background, while users simply deposit and watch yields accrue.
This approach is already proving powerful. Users who deposited $1,000 in cash just weeks ago have seen it grow to $1,076, translating to an eye-catching 94% APY.
Trove Mania 2 and Community Rewards
To celebrate the momentum, Solido recently launched Trove Mania 2, a campaign rewarding users who mint cash and stake it in Solido Grow. Participants not only earn yield, but also:
- Supra token rewards
- Solido points, which were converted into $SOLID tokens at TGE
- Surprise bonuses dropped directly in $SUPRA
Community members are already feeling the impact. As James noted, comments were rolling in live, with a variety of community members grateful for the rewards they’d already received.
Long-Term Vision: Finance Without Friction
When asked about Solido’s broader vision, Mr. Square spoke like someone who has spent a decade in the trenches of Bitcoin and DeFi:
- Tokenizing real-world assets: Stocks, derivatives, and bonds are “just poorly designed tokenized assets” today. Supra’s vertical integration provides the missing infrastructure to bring them on-chain transparently and securely.
- Building for builders: Through standards like Move 4626, Solido is making it possible for finance professionals (not just coders) to create new yield and trading strategies.
- No-code DeFi: The endgame is clear: anyone with a trading idea should be able to deploy it on Supra without writing smart contracts.
In short, Solido wants to make finance as easy as plugging into AutoFi, while still giving advanced users tools to innovate.
$SOLID Token and Governance

Naturally, the community wanted to know about the $SOLID Token. At the time of the interview, it was still in the works, but the $SOLID token officially launched on CommonFund on Nov. 15, 2025 with a TGE that raised over 188M $SUPRA. Mr. Square emphasized that the token is intended to serve three main functions:
- Governance over protocol parameters (collateral types, fees, revenue allocation)
- Decision-making power on future upgrades
- Alignment of community incentives with Solido’s growth
Revenue Model and Transparency
One of the highlights of the discussion was Solido’s refreshingly straightforward revenue model:
- $CASH minting: A one-time upfront fee, fully visible before the transaction.
- Solido Grow: A performance fee, deducted before yields are displayed.
That means when users see 94% APY, that’s already after fees; no hidden deductions later. Chase compared it to eBay sales, where sellers are often surprised by fees only after a transaction. Solido, in contrast, makes everything transparent up front.
Challenges of Building on Move
Supra’s decision to build on Move, rather than simply cloning EVM infrastructure, has set it apart, but also slowed down the initial flood of dApps. Mr. Square acknowledged this:
- Few Move developers exist compared to Solidity.
- Every protocol must be written from scratch, not forked.
- Auditing and testing take time.
Still, he emphasized that this is the right long-term approach:
“Move is the foundation for a secure ecosystem. We’re building it the right way.”
The Hot Seat: Horror Stories and Big Dreams
Of course, no Sup episode is complete without the Hot Seat. Highlights included:
- Crypto horror stories: From Celsius collapsing to waking up with drained wallets, Mr. Square has seen it all in 10 years of crypto.
- Plan B career: If crypto disappeared, he’d restart the cypherpunk movement from scratch.
- Dream dinner guest: Michael Saylor, and the first question would be about his tie.
- What crypto needs most: Abstraction. Hiding complexity like gas fees, wallets, and approvals so everyday users don’t get lost (or scammed).
- Web3 in 10 seconds: “Think of Web3 as a magic book. Everyone has a copy. When you write something in it, everyone sees it, and no one can cheat.”
Community Q&A
Before wrapping up, the community got a chance to fire off some questions:
- Buying liquidated troves with AutoFi? Yes: stake your cash in Solido Grow and you’ll share in the pooled rewards from discounted troves.
- Staking Supra tokens? Not yet, but Solido Flow will unlock liquid staking soon. In the meantime, you can mint cash with Supra and stake it in Solido Grow for yield.
Shoutouts also flew to community legends like Martin Dude, Super Mummy, Poitrex420, and even a 79-year-old Supra holder, possibly the most senior in the ecosystem.
Closing Thoughts
After more than 90 minutes, the conversation wound down with gratitude and excitement for what’s ahead:
- Supra’s transaction volumes already rival top blockchains.
- Solido is proving that AutoFi isn’t just hype, it’s powering real yield, real products, and a real vision.
- The Supra and Solido communities continue to grow stronger, fueled by transparency and shared ambition.
