Today we’re tearing down the silo between AI and blockchain, introducing the next protocol that will join our fully vertically integrated stack: Threshold AI Oracles. In its essence, this protocol brings a wide spectrum of intelligence onchain natively for your smart contracts on Supra, so you can build dApps that think, decide, and adapt to the real world in real-time.
Until now, developers had to wrestle with clunky off-chain hacks with vulnerable security just to feed machine-learning outputs into their smart contracts. Despite that, there’s been a strong desire to build dApps and ideas with AI-based features across crypto. Our Threshold AI Oracles protocol makes that much easier, faster, and more secure. It embeds AI reasoning natively on-chain with cryptographically verifiable answers, all without centralized middlemen, messy workarounds, or compromises.
Traditional oracles shuttle raw data — prices, weather, events — into smart contracts. But as crypto evolves, dApps are bound to crave more than just numbers: they need context-aware insights, dynamic decision-making, real-time compliance checks, even automated code generation. We’re already seeing dApps seek these elements out via purely off-chain AI plugins. And until now, these AI integrations meant standing up servers, wiring up APIs, and praying nothing broke. Every answer is validated by a randomized sub-committee of Supra nodes and sealed with a compact BLS threshold signature. That means tamper-proof, gas-efficient proof that your dApp’s logic was agreed upon by a decentralized jury of experts.

Your smart contract fires an on-chain request for AI queries only when it needs an answer, minimizing gas spend and on-chain footprint. This is intelligence on demand.

This new oracle layer is planned to roll out in three progressive phases in upcoming network upgrades on Supra Layer 1:
Phase 1: Structured Numerical Outputs
In Phase 1, Threshold AI Oracles will be able to return simple, verifiable numerical values, like integers or sentiment scores, based on predefined formats registered by smart contracts. These outputs are generated via statistical summarization (e.g., median of agent responses) to ensure fault tolerance and computational efficiency.
This allows smart contracts to trigger logic based on clear, deterministic values such as selecting a prediction market outcome or adjusting portfolio allocations based on market sentiment.
Phase 2: Structured Commands with Reasoning
In Phase 2, Threshold AI Oracles produce JSON-formatted outputs containing a predefined command, parameters, and an explanation, for example: {“command”: “adjust_payout”, “parameters”: {“amount”: 5000}, “reasoning”: “Volatility index 75% justifies increased payout”}. These outputs enable smart contracts to execute more complex actions like payouts or trade execution. To ensure semantic consistency, agent responses are clustered using AI embeddings and validated with pairwise logic checks.
This phase expands oracle expressivity while maintaining verifiability through robust consensus and adversarial safeguards.
Phase 3: Dynamic Smart Contract Logic Generation
In Phase 3, Threshold AI Oracles can generate executable smart contract code on demand, enabling adaptive automation. Agents interpret queries, design conditional logic, and deliberate on parameters, producing code like: function adjust_payout(volatility) { if (volatility > 50) return 110; else return 100; }. Once a quorum of agents agrees and the logic passes verification or simulation-based testing, it is signed and published.
This phase unlocks maximum flexibility but requires strict safeguards to ensure safety, fairness, and correctness in autonomous code execution.
In short: AI is the “dumbest” it will ever be today, and blockchains will only continue to scale and mature from here on. Both of these technologies have been transforming how the world moves and operates for a while. Both have been growing in terms of adoption and technological sophistication for years. And today, both blockchain and AI have reached a key inflection point where high-throughput blockchains meet powerful and smart AI inference in a meaningful way.
