Ever wondered why everyone’s launching meme coins and how they actually work?
I’m a developer building on Ethereum and Supra every day. I’ve launched tokens, tested them in our IDE, and broken them enough times to know what actually works. So let me show you how simple it really is.
In this guide, you’ll walk through creating your own meme coin using Supra IDE and adding it to your StarKey Wallet.
Most people think meme coins are mysterious or require thousands of lines of Solidity.
They don’t.
A meme coin is simply a token built on a standard:
These standards act like universal passports that define essentials such as name, symbol, supply, and transfer rules so wallets and dApps instantly recognize your token. Skip the standard, and your token won’t appear correctly on block explorers or wallets.
Use it, and everything just works.
Open the Supra IDE and head to GitHub where the FA standard lives:
Fungible Asset Coin (FACoin) Source
Fund your wallet address and update it inside your project’s Move.toml file.
Edit the smart contract to define your token details.
Example:
Deploy the contract directly from Supra IDE.
Mint tokens using the IDE’s interaction panel. This step creates the initial token supply.
Verify your token on SupraScan where it will appear under the Tokens tab.
Add your token to StarKey Wallet using the contract address.
In under five minutes, you’ve launched a real meme coin on Supra.
It’s visible on the block explorer, transferable through StarKey, and instantly compatible with any dApp using the FA standard.
This is exactly how people say, “I launched a meme coin in my basement.”
Now you know the actual flow.
